Welcome to Lake Atitlan, the sacred lake where the ancient Maya developed their sacred calendars and their precise astronomical and mathematical studies. Many people refer to this stunning lake as “the most beautiful lake in the world”.It is located in the Guatemalan highlands, in the department of Sololá. Three 10,000 foot volcanoes surround the lake (Atitlán, Tolimán and San Pedro), and all its 13 villages ring its shores.
